THE DUTCH ARE BACK.

Michiel took the Thames in 1667.
We build on it instead.

01 Who Is De Ruyter
1607
Born · Vlissingen
Son of a beer porter. Went to sea at eleven. The 17th-century equivalent of finding yourself.
1667
The Raid on the Medway
Sailed up the Thames, burned the English fleet at Chatham, towed the flagship home. England still calls it annus horribilis. Holland calls it Tuesday.
2014
A Quieter Return
A different De Ruyter arrives in the UK. No fleet. No cannon. Just drawings, schedules, and a relentlessly polite refusal to overpromise.

An architect.
A project manager.
A Dutchman, on purpose.

First Person · No CV Voice

I came to the UK for the projects. I stayed for the weather. (Still waiting on that one.)

For ten years I've drawn buildings that have to be built, and managed builds that have to be drawn correctly. The two halves rarely talk to each other. I make them.

This site is the long version. The short version — methodologies, references, fees — lives at stipt.co.uk.

A good building, like a good fleet, succeeds through preparation — not improvisation.

A short note is enough. Tell me where you are, what you're building, and roughly when it has to be standing. I'll write back the same week — usually the same day.
